Fit Help

Fit First

While fit may not be everything, here at Buffery® Flex Uniforms™ FIT is the very first thing! A good fit depends on 2 components: accurate measurements and your personal preferences.

Buffery is primarily designed for male bodybuilders (don’t get hung up on labels – we mean “muscular men”) whose chest is bigger around than their waist. In fact, our sizes start where most other menswear companies top off! Here's how to find your Buffery fit...

How to Find Your Best Fit

For detailed sizing information, please click on the SIZE GUIDE button on the Product Details Page for each individual item.

In General…

  • We’re not "inclusive." Buffery is not made for the masses but for the MASSIVE, guys with muscular builds!
  • Our Buffery styles have a tailored, modern fit and run true to size (actual measurements)
  • Our slacks and trousers are available in either form-fitting Euro-style or the more relaxed and conservative American style
  • Our tailored coats have 2 different drops: 10 inches and 14 inches, with the 14 inches being the smaller and more tapered waist
  • Stretchy garments have more of a size range and use alpha sizing (“small,” “medium,” and “large”) while our tailored garments are more precise and use numeric sizing that correspond to specific body measurements
  • We’re proud Buffery garments have consistent sizing and fits throughout– once you find your size, it’ll be good for everything across the Buffery catalog!

Did You Know…?

Clothing sizing hasn’t been researched or standardized since World War 2? People’s shapes are different now and a Size 30 waist in Levi’s is ACTUALLY 34 inches and a Size 30 waist at Old Navy is closer to 37 inches! Pro Tip: Use an actual tape measure (available here)! If you don't have a measuring tape, use a piece of string and hold it alongside a ruler.

Get your measurements!

For the Uppers we need just 2 measurements:

  • Chest measurement – measure all the way around your rib cage under your arms at the widest part of your lats (flossed up into your arm pits) and across your pecs (typically just above the nipples)
  • Navel measurement – measure all the way around your midsection at your navel (“bellybutton” is a funny word so we say “navel”). Do not suck in or “vacuum.”
  • Calculate your “Drop” – take the Chest Measurement and subtract the Navel Measurement, that’s your drop and to fit into Buffery the drop needs to be at least 10 inches

Uppers Notes:

  • If fitting for a blazer or suit coat, take your measurements OVER a shirt, something you would wear normally with your suit
  • Fit to your Chest Size first. For a more relaxed fit, choose the 10-inch drop.

For the Lowers we need just 1 measurement:

  • Waistline measurement – measure right around the top of your waistband, place the tape measure about where you would wear a belt, as shown below.
  • Stand relaxed, don’t suck in or vacuum
  • Note: If in between sizes, round up. Or you may Contact Us for custom, odd sizing.
