Garment Care
Glad to see you want to care for your Buffery® Flex Uniforms™ the RIGHT way! Here's the deal with CLEANING...
TL;DR: Spot clean preferred on the Sharp Suit Coats and Tuxedos, dry clean if you must. The Slacks, Sleek Sport Coats, and Flex Dress Shirts can be hand washed delicate & laid flat to dry.
Detailed Explanation: A main attribute we love about the Buffery® Flex Uniforms™ is its stretchiness and flexibility. Dry cleaning blasts a garment with tons of heat and chemicals. That heat and chemicals will damage the stretchy fibers and eventually they won't be so stretchy. So, to preserve the life and quality of your garment and get the most out of your investment, we suggest you limit the dry cleaning as much as possible. But if you spill ranch dressing down the front of your lapel, for example, you can take that coat to the cleaners and have them "spot clean" it to get that stain out using chemicals specific to the stain.
The Sharp Suit Coat, with the partial liner and facing, is not machine washable - the liner and facing won't survive that. However, the Flex/Relax Slacks, Sleek Sport Coats, and Flex Dress Shirts, since they don't have those components, technically can be washed with mild detergent and NO bleach or fabric softener in a washing machine IF it's a newer model and has a delicate "hand wash" mode. Otherwise, literally hand washing is best.
Now, remember all the stretchy fibers in the fabric? If you were to hang the slacks up to dry on a clothesline, for example, the weight of the water in the fabric would pull and stretch the fabric and eventually warp the shape as it dries and negatively affect the fit. Therefore, we recommend laying them flat to dry on a drying rack. Again, in newer dryers with high quality sensors, you can use a "delicate - no heat" drying cycle. The pants will feel softer to the touch but there should not be a change to their appearance (going fuzzy) or any loss to their color. Once again, minimize the number of washes to prolong the life of the garment.
While our garments are wrinkle resistant, that does not mean "wrinkle proof." Generally, a slightly damp press cloth (like a dish towel) and an iron should be able to remove wrinkles. It is not advised to place a hot iron directly on the fabric as that can cause it to shine or to scorch.
Specific garment care instructions are in the descriptions of each garment on this website. They are also on care labels affixed to each garment (along with fabric content information):
